removing a stuck wheel

A flat tire is frustrating enough. But when you can’t get the darned wheel off the car – it’s enough to drive you (lug) nuts! Of course, you’ve already tried tapping firmly around the edges of the wheel. Nothing. You’ve tugged and fallen on your behind. Now what?

  • Reinstall the lugs, leaving about five turns before they get snug.
  • Lower the car to the ground, get in and start it up.
  • Drive back and forth about 4 or 5 feet, just a few times.
  • Secure the car and turn off the engine.
  • Jack up the car again, remove the lugs and check the wheel. It should be loose now. So relax and get the job done.
